September 8, 2025. The local Health board of the Local Government Unit of Manay headed by Jon Marco Dayanghirang, our Municipal Mayor as the presiding officer, together with the Committee Co-Chairman on Health, Municipal Councilor Sunshine Rosa Pang , DOH Representative, sir Roger Palec and other stakeholders conducted its 9th LHB meeting at MHO Conference Room at 1:30 in the afternoon. Important agendas were tackled such as: 1. PhilHealth YAKAP Registration 2. PCF Accreditation (Manay Super Health Center) 3. Three Day Surgical Mission (October 15-18, 2025) 4. Other Matters * Reporting/Post Evaluation of Conducted Activities * Census of Animal Pets (Dogs @nd Cats) - C/o MAO * Healthy Workplace * School Based Immunization All necessary data’s were legibly discussed and presented well by the Officer in Charge of the Manay Municipal Health Office, Jenie B Lahora . Towards the end, the Municipal Mayor thanked everyone for their presence and commitment to the LHB and assures of its continuous support towards the implementation of Universal Health Care for the people of Manay.

The DOH Davao de Oro Award Validating Team recognized the Municipality of Manay as the “Hall of Famer”, after a thorough and intensive assessment on the municipality’s anti-smoking ordinance implementation on September 3, 2025 at 1:00 in the afternoon at Municipal Health Office Conference Room. The said awarding ceremony will be held in November 2025 at Davao City. Thank you Davao De Oro Validation Team (Arvin A. Ablin- OIC PDOHO, Ronald Dela Cruz-DMO IV, Jourhany Segura- DMO IV, Neil Ochea-Dse Surveillance Officer) and Dr Grace C. T.b. - PDOHO Prov Health Officer, Roger Palec and DMO IV and Jopay Malubay Montejo -DMO IV for the recognition and award. The local government unit received the Red Orchid Award in 2023 and in 2024. This year, it's the third time to receive the award, the Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame status is an acknowledgement of the municipality’s long-term commitment in demonstrating sustained leadership and comprehensive efforts to protect public health from tobacco harms. With the LGU’s exceptional performance in advocacy, compliance, enforcement, community engagement and collaboration earned the highest scores in the Red Orchid Award Validation. The Red Orchid Awards is the DOH’s search for government hospitals, offices, and local government units (LGUs) which implement a smoke-free environment and meet the World Health Organization’s (WHO) quality requirements for tobacco prevention and control. Despite of the challenges encountered during the preparation and actual assessment on the implementation of the program, the local government received the highest score of 107 making it to become as Hall of Fame Awardee. The Municipal Mayor Jon Marco M. Dayanghirang, 21st Sangguniang Bayan of Manay Council headed by Municipal Vice Mayor Alfonso C. Lahora, Jr, Chief of PNP Manay, Meliton Sango, MHO Employees and other support groups attended and witnessed the Red Orchid Validation process. OIC MHO, Jenie B. Lahora, RMT acknowledged in her message the exceptional dedication and the tremendous effort of her colleagues (HRH, Paanakan and Smoking Cessation Coordinator, Josephine T. Tuco, RMT) invested in this critical health initiative. A special shoutout to the Heads of Offices (MTO/BPLO, Accounting, MBO, MPDO, SB) headed by our Municipal Administrator Jameco Dayanghirang, Anti Smoking Task Force, support groups (PNP Manay, the 17 BLGUs esp at coastal barangays- Central (PB Kim Moralizon, San Ignacio, Holy Cross and Zaragoza, BHWs and BPATS of Barangay Central, EMNVHS, MNHS), and maam Rosselle M. Balante, for the valuable commitment and support to this important task. Your unwavering commitment to maintaining a 100% tobacco-free environment and upholding related policies is an inspiration to us all.
