PASI-UGDA

In line with the celebration of the 124th Araw ng Manay and Parochial Fiesta, Pasi-ugda, the opening activity of the celebration highlighted the Groundbreaking of the Construction of the Municipal Arch at Barangay San Ignacio. The site was also blessed by Fr. Pedrito Mapayo of San Ignacio de Loyola Parish. The Municipal Arch which will be constructed by R. Baudon Constructions will become the landmark of the municipality to the travellers going in Manay thru the Municipality of Tarragona. Pasi-ugda also highlighted the Pasi-ugda De Diana Gikan Quinonoan pa Manay: A Caravan from the municipal border to the municipal poblacion which was graced by Boogchak Mati, a group of musicians from the City of Mati. Over all, Mayor Japhet M. Quibo was grateful for the event and showed his excitement for the construction of the municipal arch that aside of being a landmark it will become a new tourist attraction for those non-Davao Oriental travellers that will ply to Manay. Note: Due to the current community health status of the province, the event was held following the health protocols. Thus, only limited persons were allowed to join the event. Turnover Ceremony for the establishment and operation of Materials Recovery Facility

LGUs are mandated to establish Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in each barangay or cluster of barangays designed to receive, sort, process and store compostable and recyclable materials efficiently. The residual wastes shall then be transferred to a long-term storage or disposal facility or sanitary landfill. Municipal Government of Manay headed by Mayor Japhet Mantog Quibo turn-over the Material Recovery Facility to Barangay Central thru PB Aristia S. Tibug. MRF is a specialized area wherein wastes were received, segregated and identified for its rightful end point. According to IRR Rule XI Section 1 of RA 9003, the Barangays shall be responsible for the collection, segregation, recycling of biodegradable, recyclable, compostable and reusable wastes.
