The Municipality of Manay thru the Municipal Planning and Development Office, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Manay Tourism, and Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office joined the PLANT-RUN Activity in support to the 123rd Civil Services Commission Month with the theme: “Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-Ready Servant Heroes.” The activity was held at Sitio Butuasan, Barangay Dahican in the City of Mati. This activity is spearheaded by the CSC Davao Oriental headed by PD Edna Plata together with Ms. Eveyln Yparaguirre of CSC Davao Region representing Director IV Cyril Nathan SM. Eamiguel. Situated at the mangrove area of Dahican, the planted mangroves aimed to protect its coastline on storm surges said Forester Joseph Arnel Gayta of PENRO Davao Oriental. Before the Plant-Run Governor Nino Sotero L. Uy gave inspiring message followed by a warm up exercise by Karlo Mark Malba of DepEd Mati then the Run proper (2 Laps) and the planting proper. Indeed, this activity is a gentle reminder for all of the Kawani ng Gobyerno to be ready on the future by honing various skills. Pursuant to the submission of the proposed Tourism developments in Purok Miramar in Barangay Zaragoza, Manay, Davao Oriental by the Local Government Unit headed by Mayor Jon Marco M. Dayanghirang came its Ocular Inspection after it passed the pre-qualification process happened last July 2023. The Lahora properties housed one of the three largest shell collections in the country. The shell collection of the late Mayor Francisco E. Lahora Sr. who was the first elected Municipal Mayor of Manay from 1923 to 1928 were taken care of by the heirs in their ancestral house at Purok Miramar, Barangay Zaragoza. Mayor Jon Marco M. Dayanghirang showed his support for the future development being presented by the TIEZA representatives Mark Louis Florotita, Engr. Jamaica Chloe Fernando, and Samuel John Narido together with Alkid Hatosa of DOT XI. The meeting was also graced by 1st District Representative Nelson L. Dayanghirang Sr. who welcomed all invited guests especially the Heirs of the late Mayor Francisco E. Lahora Sr. present; Heirs of Isagani Lahora c/o Dr. Araceli Del Fierro being represented by Dr. Emmanuel Del Fierro, Heirs of Caridad L. Camingue c/o Cesar L. Camingue, Alfonso M. Lahora Sr., Felicitas L. Herrera, and Engr. Isidro M. Lahora. The meeting was also attended by Vice Mayor Alfonso C. Lahora Jr.,SB Member Jan Mae Dayanghirang-Llavore, Municipal Tourism and OIC-MPDC Jan Michael Belena, and representatives from the CENRO Manay. Indeed, this will become a start of the tourism journey not only for the Shell Collection but also with Cultural Heritage of the Municipality of Manay.
